Acquired haemophilia – Jenny’s story

Acquired haemophilia A is a very rare condition where a person’s immune system (a system that protects your body from diseases) develops antibodies, also known as inhibitors, that mistakenly target the body’s own clotting factors, most commonly factor VIII. It is not hereditary.

For Jenny, discovering she had acquired haemophilia A was frightening. She shares her story of how she discovered she had the condition and how it was able to be successfully treated with the support of her hospital and Haemophilia Treatment Centre.
